Red Oil African premiere

mediaco-op’s documentary RED OIL had its African premiere at the Tri Continental Human Rights Film Festival across five South African cities.

The South African newspaper Amandla comments in their preview "Watch RED OIL and be inspired. Can we launch a campaign in which every ounce of mineral mined is the property of South Africans, not an elite oligarch ?"

This latest festival outing follows TV broadcasts on Channel4, Al Jazeera, SBS Australia, Norway and Finland; and packed screenings in London at a Venezuela event attended by Tony Benn.

   

 

Roaring online

"Roars not Whispers' youth groups from Stirling and from Royston have made video clips to track and evaluate their progress, facilitated by media co-op.
 
 
 
"It was awesome" said one of the teenage participants, "I was nervous at first but Inigo really made me feel at ease and boosted my confidence".

pensioners rock on screen

mediaco-op has begun a three-year Media Training programme for the Scottish Pensioners Forum, funded by the Scottish Government, to coach pensioner activists in how to get the most out of the mainstream media.

 

"The training was refreshing, practical, engaging, and a good learning curve" commented participants. "I could write a book about what I learned today."  

 

 

mediaco-op films in Korea and Taiwan

DMZ Doc is an extraordinary documentary film festival taking place in the De-Militarized Zone between North Korea and South Korea.

A highlight of the festival is a showcase of the five best documentaries shown this year on Al-Jazeera English. media co-op is honoured to announce that the Korean Festival has chosen our film RED OIL as one of the five best films.

 

Meanwhile the Taiwan Disability Film Festival has selected media co-op's BBC documentary MULTIPLE to tour six Taiwanses cities for two months.

 

Young Parliamentarians

Ex-STV reporter Claire Dean joined media co-op to deliver Media Training to members of the Scottish Youth Parliament. “Really worthwhile and enjoyable” commented the teenage politicians. “I feel I’ve got a head start now when I have to give a real interview to the media.” “Fantastic fun”.
