Refugee Week 09

mediaco-op is part of Refugee Week Scotland Film Festival, with a screening on June 21st of our film ‘Paula’s Story’, a soap opera researched, written, acted and filmed by refugees five different countries. See the Film Festival website

 

TV news 'how to'

How to get your message on the TV news ? SCVO hosted a “How-to Guide” on Video News Releases, delivered by mediaco-op’s Lucinda Broadbent and former STV reporter Claire Dean.  

Gordon Smith from Guide Dogs for the Blind said “working with mediaco-op gave us greater influence than we could possibly get on our own... It was magnificent, and we were certainly well-pleased with the bangs we got for our buck!”

Social Enterprise showcase

mediaco-op was commissioned by the Social Enterprise Coalition to film their annual trade fair S2S.

media co-op crew with Neal Mackay from Forth Sector"Business with a Social Purpose" is the coalition's slogan, and a huge range of businesses took part.

Lesley Riddoch's radio show recorded a special edition at S2S. 

mediaco-op's crew for the event included the Afghan refugee and aspiring filmmaker Iftekhar Gafar.

Lucinda holding bottle of bubblymedia co-op joined other Social Enterprises from across Scotland at the Scottish Social Enterprise Network annual celebration and ceilidh - and walked away with a bottle of Co-op champagne as the prize for the best soap-box rant at the event. Lucinda Broadbent took on the issue of equal pay for women: at the rate of progress since the Equal Pay act, it will take another 290 years to get there ....

 

 

Red Oil

media co-op's latest film RED OIL screened on Channel4's More4 "True Stories" and Al Jazeera's "Witness".
RED OIL tells the high-octane story of the only multinational oil corporation in the world that 's part of a socialist revolution - in Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.

At our sneak preview screening in November mediaco-op hosted a live gig by the Venezuelan band "La Redonda" who composed the RED OIL soundtrack.
