The media co-op team were great. Responsive, helpful, flexible: they knew where we were coming from, and what we were trying to achieve. Feedback on the films has been very, very positive. They look fantastic - really modern.

Television

We specialise in producing television documentaries on social issues.

mediaco-op members have made programmes for Channel 4, BBC1, BBC2, BBC 4 and BBC World, ITV and Sky ... and won awards for some of them.

We usually develop our own ideas, inspired by stories we hear or individuals we meet through our own personal voluntary or campaigning work. And we are also always on the lookout for great ideas or extraordinary stories which you might bring to us to pitch to the broadcasters together.

Video News Release

We pitch news items to television news on behalf of those we work with. We put together footage of key events and interviews, backed up with a press release, providing news desks with ready-made news items to broadcast on the day.

See below for examples of our television productions.

Man for a Day

What would it be like to be a man for a day? This feature length documentary is an international co-production between mediaco-op and multi-award-winning Katarina Peters in Germany. Partners are Creative Scotland and the television stations ZDF and YLE. It is a creative and humorous look at ordinary women having a go at being a man – for a day.

Red Oil

‘Red Oil’ is a high-octane one-hour documentary by mediaco-op; an international co-production for More4 “True Stories”, Al-Jazeera, TV stations in Australia, Norway and Finland, and supported by Scottish Screen.  It is the story of conflict and intrigue over who gets the profits from the biggest oil reserves on the planet.

Multiple

Commissioned by BBC 1 for BBC Scotland UK, 'Multiple' is an insider look Multiple Sclerosis though the eyes of Scotttish actor/director Alison Peebles, who was diagnosed with the condition six years earlier. With its absence of self pity and more laughs than you'd expect, the film won international awards at Festivals in Chicago, Texas and California.
